Say it before irritability sets in

An early sentence can prevent irritability from turning into arguments, withdrawal, or a desire to smoke.

If you don't name irritability, internal pressure increases. This pressure often looks for a quick way out - in words, behavior or by automatically reaching for a cigarette.

What you say early on doesn't have to break out later.

Say what's happening to you early on - not just when it's already become too much. Then the situation remains easier to control.

Why that relieves

Unnamed feelings often have a stronger effect because they remain diffuse. As soon as you say it, it becomes a clear state instead of a growing internal pressure.

This has two effects:

- You gain more control internally - Those around you understand the situation without interpretation

Especially during withdrawal phases, this can help to avoid escalation and reduce smoke impulses because the pressure does not rise additionally.

This is how you use a simple sentence

Have a short standard sentence ready, for example:

“I’m noticing irritability right now, I need some space for a moment.”

or:

“I’m just tense and I’m going out for a moment.”

What is important is not the wording, but the timing: recognize and name early instead of reacting late.
